Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Conveniently located, gorgeous home with private pool & elevator - walk to beach has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
