How to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Reserve your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your family select trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Fantastic Updated Penthouse-Level Condominium with Sweeping Oceanfront Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
