How to find the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Stunning Oceanfront Hideaway with Private Pool, Deck, and Yard - Dogs Welcome has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, call the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
