Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Hilton Head:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Incredible villa with pool and tennis access, central AC, and on-site golf has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, email the property owner before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
