Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Charming condo with shared pool and tennis - walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you crave, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
