How to book the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your Hilton Head rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning and picking your prefectrental home:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Charming upgraded 2 bed villa in Main Sail overlooking Shelter Cove Marina has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Have a great stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
