Strategies for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To book the best rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Hilton Head:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. This villa is perfect for either a friends or family getaway! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
