Booking the best Hilton Head rental home experience:

When to book a Hilton Head rental & When to go:

  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Walk to Yacht Basin, shops, dining & playground in famous Harbourtown has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you simply love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
