Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and picking your prefect Hilton Head rental:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Large Two Bedroom Villa with Ocean Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
