Our top Hilton Head rental home booking tips and tricks:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 4th-floor villa with balcony, beach access, outdoor pool, & grills has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
