Vacation rental home tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. 4th-floor villa with balcony, beach access, outdoor pool, & grills has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
