Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the right Hilton Head rental home:
- Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 108 Beachwalk Pet Friendly Condo, Steps to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
