Tips for getting the best Hilton Head rental experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Beach dream w/ balcony view & shared pool - steps from the beach has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you crave, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
