Come and join in the tie dyeing fun! Twist, twirl, tie, and dye with natural indigo dye. Why indigo dye? In 1739 Eliza Lucas Pinckney’s experiments with the indigo plant resulted in a very profitable cash crop for South Carolina. Enjoy a fun, family friendly activity with the opportunity to learn a little bit about the history of indigo and how the dye was made. Make your own indigo tie-dye t-shirt to take home.
The museum will provide one t-shirt (size Child Small to Adult XXL) per paid participant. Paid participants are also welcome to bring one additional small cotton item to dye (example: t-shirt, apron, bandana).
Stop in anytime between 10:00am-12:00pm on Tuesdays in June, July, and August.
