Led by staff of the Preschool and Youth Department, the Homeschool P.E. Enrichment Program is designed for youth ages 7-14 to learn sports, collaboration, and socialization skills.

Students will get the opportunity to learn foundational skills of basketball, yoga, soccer, and more. The program will take place at the Island Rec during the spring months of February, March, and April and the fall months of September, October, and November.
This curriculum based program is tailored to the goal of creating an educational, welcoming, and thriving environment for the homeschool population.

Outdoor Discovery Homeschool
Thursdays, 10:30am-12pm
Outdoor Discovery Homeschool is a hands-on, nature-based learning program led by our Master Naturalist guides and experienced educators. Designed for children ages 7–14, this program blends environmental education with active outdoor play to create a meaningful and engaging homeschool experience.

Students will explore local ecology and learn about the natural world through guided adventures and interactive lessons. Learning takes place outdoors, where curiosity is encouraged and concepts come to life through movement, exploration, and discovery.

Activities include fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, climbing, disc golf, and archery, all thoughtfully incorporated to reinforce environmental awareness, teamwork, and confidence. Participants will also enjoy field trips to local parks and natural areas, using STEM-based, hands-on learning to deepen their understanding of ecosystems and conservation.
Outdoor Discovery Homeschool offers a unique opportunity for students to learn, play, and grow while building a lasting connection to the natural environment.

The booking system is working on their multi-day booking platform. For now, registering for the first session will ensure that your child is enrolled for the entire month!
what_to_bring: Your child may get a little wet and dirty, so please consider bringing clothes you do not mind getting a little dirty or wet and it is always a good idea to keep a towel in your car for pickup. Old tennis shoes are the best as we do not allow kids to wear flip flops or crocs as they easily slip off the feet and do not stand up to the sharp oysters and shells!
