Please Note

This is experience is designed for novice or better riders who are comfortable with longer hours in the saddle and are able to independently mount/dismount their horses easily, this culinary and riding adventure cannot be matched anywhere else!

About

Immerse your senses as our special guests in the best of two worlds that only Daufuskie can brag about - riding and dining!
Where else can you ride your horse from north to south, and east to west, getting the best views and sampling the best of the unique, local culinary delights that the island has to offer?

Based on availability, choose from a seasonal selection of famous dishes and drinks. Your guide will additionally pack saddlebags with picnic style food and beverages.

Rides depart from and return to our location (281 Old Haig Point Rd) where a selection of refreshments will also be available.

Once mounted, hack south on our historical, dirt and tree canopied roads and trails, dismounting (depending on availability) at the Daufuskie Island Rum Company, Up in Smoke BBQ, Frye's Chicken Corner, the Saturday Farmer's Market, School Grounds Coffee, D'Fuskie's, the Silver Dew Winery and/or the Old Daufuskie Crab Company.

Food and some drink costs included in fare. Upon booking we will provide you with a patron questionnaire that will allow you to chose from available venues and menus! Kindly remember some offerings are only available seasonally. Gratuity not included.

-If you are booking beyond 6-7 days in advance, we will follow up with you no later than 48 hours prior
to your ride time to confirm the weather looks agreeable and that your plans are still in place.

In preparation for your bucket-list horseback riding adventure, please note the following:
- Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before your ride time to allow for paperwork, mounting, tack fitting and a short riding demo tailored to you and your horse.
- Trail rides are not designed for complete beginner and/or physically unfit riders. You must demonstrate novice or better riding level which is defined by us as the ability to independently, confidently and proficiently mount, walk, trot, halt, change direction and dismount in an arena setting before departure onto the trail.
- Youth riders ages 12-17 must be currently enrolled or previously enrolled in at least one ‘semester’ of riding lessons to be welcome to ride with us.
- If you have zero to very little riding experience, we encourage you to book a lesson with us.
- Riders must weigh less than 225 lbs and disclose any health issues for example back, hip, knee or ankle impairments, severe asthma/allergies, epilepsy, and/or prescription medications that may impair judgment or place you at a higher risk during your ride.
- You must have the ability to promptly follow verbal instructions while mounted, intoxicated or incompetent guests will be promptly dismounted and charged a $75 cancellation fee.

These policies are designed to protect the health and safety of our horses, guides and guests. We look forward to riding with you!

Health and Safety Policy

• Please note, WARNING: Under South Carolina law, an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in an equine activity resulting from an inherent risk of equine activity, pursuant to Article 7, Chapter 9 of Title 47, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976.
• Please note, WARNING: Under South Cartolina law, an agritourism professional is not liable for an injury or death of a participant in an agritourism activity resulting from an inherent risk associated with the agritourism activity, pursuant to Chapter 53 of Title 46, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976.
• Please note we do not have public restrooms at our location yet, however we do have a hand washing and sanitizing station.
• Please follow signs for parking in designated areas, we have handicap parking and are ADA accessible.
• Do not feed horses without explicit permission and supervision of a guide.
• Dogs are welcome but they must be on leash at all times.

  • Staff reserves the right to refuse customers based on their sole discretion and concern for the safety of the customer, the horses and themselves.
  • There will be photo opportunities on the trail when your Guide will take your picture, your pictures will be given to you at the end of your ride as a keepsake of your adventure.
  • Have fun! Our policies are designed for the safety of our customers, horses and guides.

What to bring

  • You are encouraged to bring your own riding apparel, including but not limited to helmet, breeches, chaps, boots and/or gloves. ASTM/SEI certified helmets are mandatory for riders under 18 years old and are provided by us to use free of charge. No riding in flip-flops or bathing suits.
  • Depending on the season, it is recommended to dress in layers. Sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray and a water bottle are popular items you can bring.
  • You are allowed to carry your phone on your person however cell phone use while mounted is strictly prohibited. It is strongly advised if you wear your phone to keep it in a waterproof pouch or ziplock baggie in a pocket that does not get in the way of your riding. We are not responsible for damage to your phone or other personal items during your ride or while you are on our property.
