Learn how the island became a strategic location during the war — from the Battle of Port Royal Sound to the creation of a massive hospital, several forts, and a civilian town that housed tens of thousands of people. This program will delve into the remarkable figures that spent time on the island during and after the war, from abolitionist Harriet Tubman to Confederate President Jefferson Davis. You'll also learn what life was like for a soldier on Hilton Head and the origins of the island’s infamous Robber's Row.

Welcome to the Coastal Discovery Museum!
The Coastal Discovery Museum is one of the most memorable destinations on Hilton Head Island. Explore natural history and cultural heritage on the 68 acre Honey Horn property. The Museum’s trails, gardens, live oaks, butterfly enclosure, and horses are just a few of the fun experiences you will encounter during your visit.
Monday-Saturday 9:00-4:30 and Sunday 11-3.
Adult - $15.00 + tax

Child - $7.00 + tax
Ages 4-12
Private Group - Up to 8 people - $50.00 + tax
Combination of up to 8 people - adults and children
Child ages 7-12 - $7.00 + tax
