Rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a rental home:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Choosing and booking the best Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Wonderful sun-filled retreat w/ generous patio, pool, & tennis - near beaches has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
