Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose and book the rightrental:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Water-view townhome with pool & tennis access & on-site golf has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

During your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
