Strategies to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:

When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To find the best value, try shifting your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose your prefect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • To start, have your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Updated oceanfront condo with shared pools, WiFi, hot tub & beach access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
