Strategies to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- To get the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best vacation rental in Hilton Head:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Villa with Shared Pools, Hot tub, and Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
