Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanview Condo with WiFi, Hot Tub, Pools, Full Kitchen, & Nearby Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
