Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a budget:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking yourvacation home:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Lovely condo close to beach - pool access, elegant screened patio & washer/dryer has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
