How to book the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Lovely Beach-Contemporary Home Minutes to the Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
