Our top Vacation rental tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Happy Place Gated ResortBldg.1,First floor, pool, deli/gift shop, bar has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
