Getting the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Happy Place Gated ResortBldg.1,First floor, pool, deli\/gift shop, bar has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
