Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing your prefectrental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Gorgeous oceanfront condo with new kitchen & bathroom, pool view, steps to beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
