Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectvacation home:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Exquisite Villa! Gorgeous Oceanfront - Enjoy the Heated Pool! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Tips for your stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
