Strategies for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Bright Condo with Full Kitchen, Shared Pools, Hot Tub, Beach Access, and More has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
