Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Finding the best rental home:

  • Choose your vacation dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Beach Getaway with WiFi, Pools, Hot Tub, & Ocean View has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
