Booking the best vacation home experience:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best rental in Hilton Head:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beach access condo with deck, pool, washer/dryer, and AC - snowbird-friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
