Health and Safety Policy

At Southern Roots Fishing Charters you and your families safety is priority number one. Before your trip begins your captain will instruct you on where the safety equipment is located on the vessel.
Such as: life jackets, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, VHF Radio, horn, and the throwable flotation device.

We should be in cell phone range the entire trip in case of emergency situations call 911 and if there is no service turn on VHF radio to channel 16 and call.
MAYDAY Call: To issue a MAYDAY call on Channel 16 of your VHF radio:
Transmit "MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY."
Say "This is 24 ft tan center console bay boat call number SC1480DC”
Repeat once more "MAYDAY" and your boat's name.
Report your location.
Report the nature of your emergency.
Report the kind of assistance needed.
Report the number of people on board and condition of any injured.
Describe the boat and its seaworthiness.
Wait for a response. If there is none, repeat the message.

While we take as many precautions as we can this does not take the responsibility off of you and your party to keep sharp lookout and remain cautious of your whereabouts and surroundings at all times. SAFETY IS NUMBER ONE catching fish and having a good time is second.
