The Coastal Discovery Museum is one of the most memorable destinations on Hilton Head Island. Explore natural history and cultural heritage on the 68 acre Honey Horn property. The Museum’s trails, gardens, live oaks, butterfly enclosure, and horses are just a few of the fun experiences you will encounter during your visit.
Monday-Saturday 9:00-4:30 and Sunday 11-3.

Join us for a hands-on homeschool adventure at the beach! In this interactive learning experience, we will explore the shoreline, search for seashells, and discover the fascinating marine creatures that once lived in each unique shell. We'll learn how to identify different types of shells, and each student will create their own personal shell collection to take home—a perfect reminder of a day filled with curiosity, creativity, and connection with nature.
Wear shoes at can get wet and sandy.
Ideal for students ages 8 and older.
Children need to be accompanied by a registered adult chaperone. Multiple adults are welcome to register. Bringing a younger child who isn’t participating? Include them in your registration. Limited spots available; only registered guests will be admitted.

All About Owls

From beak to tail, owls are equipped with extraordinary adaptations that make them masters of the night. In this hands-on avian investigation, students will explore a variety of owl species, uncover the secrets behind their success as nocturnal predators, and dissect real owl pellets to gain insight into their diet, place in the food chain, and impact on local ecosystems.
Ideal for students ages 8 and older.

Native Americans

Image what coastal life was like four thousand years ago. Use artifacts, drawings, and replicas, to learn about who lived here and how they survived. Students will examine Native American pottery and create replica pinch pots using clay.
Ideal for students ages 8 and older.
