Welcome to the Coastal Discovery Museum!
The Coastal Discovery Museum is one of the most memorable destinations on Hilton Head Island. Explore natural history and cultural heritage on the 68 acre Honey Horn property. The Museum’s trails, gardens, live oaks, butterfly enclosure, and horses are just a few of the fun experiences you will encounter during your visit.
Monday-Saturday 9:00-4:30 and Sunday 11-3.

Child ages 7-12 - $10.00 + tax
No children under the age of 7 please
Take a peek behind the scenes at the Coastal Discovery Museum and get an up-close look at various areas of the museum and Honey Horn grounds with an experienced staff member. These exclusive tours offer access to areas and insights not available to the general public. Each tour features a different theme, so check the calendar for more details.

Behind the Scenes – Animal Care in the Discovery Lab
Meet the Coastal Discovery Museum’s live animal ambassadors, including alligators, turtles, and horseshoe crabs. Director of Education Dawn Brut shares how these animals are cared for and housed. This interactive indoor program lets you learn up close—and you might even get to touch a few critters!

Behind the Scenes – Propagate and Grow a Camellia
Camellias have graced Lowcountry gardens for centuries with their beauty and history. Join the museum’s Horticulturist to tour the Camellia Garden, home to over 130 varieties. You’ll pick your favorite camellia and get hands-on guidance for potting and caring for your cutting so you can enjoy it for years to come. (Some species may not be available).
