Finding the best rental home experience:

When to reserve a Hilton Head rental & When to go:

  • To find the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Upgraded condo on waterfront with pool, hot tub, & tennis access - near beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
