Booking the best rental home experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, shift your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation rental in Hilton Head:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 108 Beachwalk Pet Friendly Condo, Steps to the Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
