Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Get the best value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking the bestvacation home:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Three bedroom Shipyard villa has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
