Hilton Head rental booking tips:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the largest rental for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Fully Updated Two Bedroom Condominium in the Heart of Palmetto Dunes! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
