Hilton Head vacation rental tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the largest rental within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting the perfect rental home in Hilton Head:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 2516 Windsor Place II- Renovated for 2024 Rental Season!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
