Finding the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the perfect rental in Hilton Head:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Six Bedroom Luxury Home in Hilton Head Island! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
