Our top Hilton Head vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- To get the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the perfectvacation home:
- First, have your group select the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. 7 Periwinkle Lane-Close to Beach, Pool, Great Location, Pet Friendly, $1000 Free Activities Included has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. message the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
