Our top Hilton Head vacation rental home tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to choose the best vacation rental in Hilton Head:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Recently Updated, Family-Friendly Beach Home w\/ a Private Pool & Pool Spa has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you simply love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
