Our top Hilton Head vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental in Hilton Head:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Comfortable villa with pool, hot tub, lagoon view & nearby beach access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If not, contact the host before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
