Our top Hilton Head vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Charming Waterfront Getaway with Seasonal Pool & Hot Tub, Tennis, Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is best for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
