Rental booking tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the perfect rental home:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beach dream w\/ balcony view & shared pool - steps from the beach has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
