Hilton Head vacation rental tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and picking a perfect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Upgraded condo on waterfront with pool, hot tub, & tennis access - near beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
