Strategies for getting the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book a perfect Hilton Head rental:

- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
