Strategies to get the very best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick your prefectvacation home:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Family-friendly home near the beaches w\/ a private, saltwater pool has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
