Tips for getting the best rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Ground-Floor Villa with Deck, Shared Pool, and Hot Tub - Near Golf and Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your group.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
