Hilton Head vacation rental booking tips:
Sticking to a budget:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect rental:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Cozy condo with pools, hot tub, tennis, gym & beach access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is suitable for your group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
