Our top Rental home tips:

When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your Hilton Head rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Cozy Direct Oceanfront and pool view, Close to Coligny Plaza and Tiki Hut has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
