Hop on Southern Drawl Charters skiff and let’s get that rod bent! Captain Donovan will have you targeting the Inshore Slam: Redfish, Flounder, Trout, and more. This charter is also perfect for people who like to sight fish, cast artificial lures, or fly fish.
Experience level recommended: Avid angler – comfortable casting around targets like docks, trees, and oyster beds. Equipment provided: Bull Bay Reel Animals rods with Florida Fishing Products reels. These are ideal for the Inshore Slam and are light enough to cast all day.
Experience level recommended for fly fishing: Avid angler – ability to make up to a 30’ – 50’ cast onto a car tire size target is needed. Things to know: Practice before the charter if possible. Know how to strip set (freshwater Trout sets will not work on Redfish). Equipment provided: 8wt Sage Salt HD rod paired up with Tibor reels and Flats Pro fly line. We will have flies that have been working based on recent trips. You are welcome to bring your own rod, it must be a 7wt or 8wt.
For the best trip possible bring polarized sunglasses with a bronze or amber tint that will allow you to see the fish in our tea-stained waters. Sun protective clothing including gloves, buff, hooded sun shirt, and a hat are also recommended. We suggest not applying sun factor while out there, it will end up on something that interacts with the fish in a negative way. Bring whatever you would like to eat on the trip, there will be some room in the cooler. There will be water in the cooler and you are welcome to bring any other types of drinks you like. These skiffs will produce some spray when running, so you may get a little wet. Bring a rain jacket if you like.
Our fishery is under tremendous pressure, especially our Redfish population. We practice 100% Catch & Release on these charters when it comes to Redfish. You are welcome to keep any other species we may catch like Black Drum and Sea Trout (over 14” but not over 20"). Thank you for the support!
